Konselor pendidikan
Konselor pendidikan adalah konselor yang bertugas dan bertanggungjawab memberikan layanan bimbingan dan konseling kepada peserta didik di satuan pendidikan. Konselor pendidikan merupakan salah satu profesi yang termasuk ke dalam tenaga kependidikan seperti yang tercantum dalam Undang-undang Republik Indonesia Nomor 20 tahun 2003 tentang Sistem Pendidikan Nasional maupun Undang-undang tentang Guru dan Dosen.

Konseling

Konseling adalah proses pemberian bantuan yang dilakukan oleh seorang ahli (disebut konselor) kepada individu yang mengalami sesuatu masalah (disebut konsele) yang bermuara pada teratasinya masalah yang dihadapi klien. Istilah ini pertama kali digunakan oleh Frank Parsons di tahun 1908 saat ia melakukan konseling karier. Selanjutnya juga diadopsi oleh Carl Rogers yang kemudian mengembangkan pendekatan terapi yang berpusat pada klien (client centered).
